COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — Police in Sri Lanka on Thursday arrested the reigning Mrs. Earth for pulling the crown off the head of the winner of a Mrs. Sri Lanka natural beauty pageant and allegedly producing accidents. She was afterwards unveiled on bail.

Caroline Jurie, who received the Mrs. Globe 2020 competitors, was accused of hurting Pushpika De Silva, who received the Mrs. Sri Lanka title at a televised pageant held in Colombo on Sunday.

Moments immediately after De Silva gained the title, Jurie, who is also Sri Lankan, arrived on phase and snatched the crown from her, saying she was ineligible since she was divorced. Jurie then gave the crown to the initial-runner up, declaring she was the winner.

In a statement on her Facebook page, De Silva denied getting divorced.

“Being aside is one particular. Divorce is anything else. I’m even now an un divorced female,” she wrote.

Law enforcement spokesman Ajith Rohana claimed police acquired a criticism from De Silva that she suffered accidents when her crown was eliminated.

Rohana reported Jurie and a model, Chula Padmendra, were being arrested Thursday on fees of “simple harm and prison force” and had been later released on bail. The two females have been requested to show up in court docket on April 19.

Jurie declined to remark as she left the law enforcement station.
