MOSCOW (Sputnik) – – Maj. Gen. Oleg Yegorov, deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Center for Reconciliation of Opposite Camps in Syria, told a briefing that the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia) has shelled Syria’s Idlib-escalation area twice in the past 24 hours.
“Two shell attacks from the positions of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra were recorded in the Idlib de-escalation zone during the past day,” Maj. Gen. Yegorov said.
“An attack [was recorded] in Idleb province, one in Latakia,” he said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Parties and Control of the Movement of Refugees in the Syrian Arab Republic was established in February 2016.
Its tasks include signing agreements on illegal armed groups and individual settlements joining the cessation of hostilities regime, as well as coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
