TONI KROOS has been left boiling after being booked in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey clash with Elche on Thursday night.

Kroos was placed in the book in the 78th minute of Los Blancos’ 2-1 win at the Estadio Martinez Valero for what referee Jorge Vazquez thought was a foul on Tete Morente.

But replays showed the retired Germany international did it NOT touching the substitute or the ball.

Morente went to the ground unaided as he missed his Zinedine Zidane corner attempt, although Vasquez thought Kroos was responsible for the winger’s downfall and showed him a yellow card.

A furious Kroos quickly pleaded his innocence, gesturing to the referee that he hadn’t made any contact with the Spaniard.

And he reflected on the bizarre booking on social media by sharing a clip of Morente’s tripping that included circus music.

His accompanying caption read: “Yellow card. Of course.”

Footy fans were quick to comment, with a tweet alongside an edited photo of the incident: “Should have been a yellow card for Spiderman instead.”

Another said: “I can’t believe it.

“How did the referee fall for it!! I think the referee anticipated a foul.”

And another said: “Incredible. It’s not a foul and a yellow card.”

One remarked, “You need to stop using those supernatural powers.”

Kroos ended up being substituted before the Round of 16 was extended.

Kroos couldn’t believe he was placed in the book1 credit

Ten-man Madrid were in danger of being knocked out of the tournament in the 103rd minute when Gonzalo Verdu struck to put the home side ahead.

But former pariah Isco brought it back to 13-time European Cup-winning level five minutes later.

And former Chelsea player Eden Hazard spared Real’s blushes by scoring the winner five minutes before the end of extra time.

After the match, coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the mental strength of his troops saying: “We didn’t put in an incredible performance.

“We were very into the game and in control.

Eden Hazard broke Elche’s heart in the 115th minute1 credit

“When it came to extra time, I asked my players to keep a cool head and stay calm because we still had 30 minutes ahead of us.

“We then conceded a goal that we didn’t deserve, but that’s what brought out all the character and personality of this team.”

Real will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, resuming their rivalry with Elche at the Bernabeu.
