Rare and prized Washington neighborhood featuring America’s first president sells for a huge price thanks to a low mintage

A QUARTER recently sold online for over $ 1,200, which means you’ll want to carefully check where you might be storing change to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

The rare coin, depicting the first President of the United States, George Washington, is unique due to its extremely small mintage.

Interestingly, there are only two neighborhoods in Washington with circulation under 1 million.

One is the 1932 S and the other (the one that was recently sold) is the 1932 D quarter.

Only 436,800 and 408,000 of these coins were minted respectively, according to David Hall of Professional Coin Grading Services (PCGS).

“Both coins have been highly sought after in all categories for the past 60 years,” Mr. Hall wrote in a description of the coin.
