Lil Keed, an Atlanta rapper signed to YSL Records from Young Thug, died on Friday, his brother announced on social media and Complex confirmed. He was 24 years old.
The cause of death is unknown. HuffPost has reached out to his label, Young Stoner Life Records, for comment.
“I can’t believe I saw you die today bro, I did all my crying,” brother Lil Gotit wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the two brothers.
‘Trapped on Cleveland 3’ rapper signed to YSL Records but not part of recent indictment in Atlanta that led to label co-founder Young Thug, fellow YSL rapper Gunna and dozens of other YSL associates being arrested on racketeering charges.
Earlier this week, Lil Keed defended his label on social media, claiming that YSL was “not a street gang”, which is contrary to prosecutors’ allegations.
Lil Keed was a staple of the Atlanta rap scene and had many popular songs including “Snake”, “She Know”, and “Wavy (Remix)”. He has also collaborated with artists like Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert and Chris Brown.
Quana Bandz, girlfriend of Lil Keed and mother of their daughter Naychur, posted a heartbreaking message on Instagram on Saturday about his sudden passing. The post also includes several videos of their relationship.
“I love you so much baby what am I going to do without you,” she wrote. “I can’t breathe properly, sleep with nothing. I don’t even want to talk to anyone. Keed, I can’t understand why you’re leaving the United States.
