Chansley was released after nearly 27 months at FCI Safford. The exact reason for the transfer hasn’t been announced but there are two options. The first is a reduced sentence for good behavior. Recently, public perception of Chansley changed after Tucker Carlson released a video compilation in which he was shown walking around the grounds of the Capitol, accompanied by security guards . Earlier this month, Elon Musk questioned the fairness of the verdict and urged Chansley to be freed. In September 2021, it became known that Chansley, who rose to fame for a photo of himself sitting in a fur hat with horns in Nancy Pelosi’s congressional chair, would face up to 41 months in prison. American Jacob Chansley, nicknamed “QAnon Shaman”, who participated in the Capitol on March 6, 2021, was released early from federal prison and transferred to a halfway house.
Chansley was released after nearly 27 months at FCI Safford. The exact reason for the transfer hasn’t been announced but there are two options. The first is a reduced sentence for good behavior. The second is the possibility of release for the last 12 months of a sentence in a social rehabilitation centre.
“Having served eleven months in solitary confinement before his sentence was imposed, and only 16 months of his sentence afterwards, it is fitting that this gentle and intelligent young man be allowed to move on to the next stage of what will be without no doubt a respectful and life-enriching law,” said Albert Watkins, Chansley’s attorney.
The Bureau of Prisons also said that due to security concerns, it does not release information on inmates’ progress in prison or their conditions and transfers to other facilities.
In September 2021, news broke that Chansley, who rose to fame for a photo of himself sitting in a fur hat with horns in Nancy Pelosi’s congressional chair, would face up to 41 months in prison.
