Putin will sign the Ukrainian territories annexed to Russia on Friday

Vladimir Putin will hold a signing ceremony on Friday to integrate the territories taken from Ukraine into Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said agreements would be signed “with the four territories that held referenda and made corresponding demands to the Russian side.”

This follows referendums held in four regions – parts of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson region, Luhansk and Donetsk – in recent days. Peskov said the regions’ pro-Moscow administrators will sign treaties to join Russia during the ceremony at St. George’s Hall in the Kremlin. The official annexation was widely expected after Moscow claimed that the people of the region had overwhelmingly supported joining Moscow.

The United States and its Western allies strongly condemned the votes as “fictitious” and vowed never to recognize their results.
