Putin isolates himself after coronavirus cases in his entourage – POLITICO

Russian President Vladimir Putin is isolating himself after detection of COVID-19 cases in his entourage, Russian media reported on Tuesday.

Putin “said that in connection with the detected cases of coronavirus in his environment, he had to observe the self-isolation regime for a while,” read a statement to journalists. It doesn’t say how long Putin will isolate himself.

The Russian leader shook hands with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Moscow on Monday.

The Kremlin has said Putin will not change his work schedule, which is moved online. Still, he canceled a trip to Tajikistan to attend regional security meetings.

Putin, who is 68, said he was vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine in the spring.
