Pennsylvania county results to be delayed after printing error

Election officials in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, reported that an error in printing ballots would delay the county’s final count of election results by several days.

Incorrect election code on some mail-in ballots — which are only opened and counted on Election Day, per state law — means those ballots will need to be corrected through a replication process, with multiple workers marking each of new ballots exactly as they were cast. These ballots will then be counted by machines.

Of the roughly 21,000 mail-in ballots returned, about a third had correct codes, according to Chief Registrar Christa Miller.
