Powerball jackpot reaches $725 million after 27 consecutive drawings without a winner

The Powerball jackpot continues to rise after no ticket matched all six numbers Wednesday night to win the $672 million grand prize.

The massive jackpot now stands at around $725 million – with a one-time cash payout option of $345.7 million – ahead of Saturday night’s drawing.

This is the eighth largest prize offered in the history of the game.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday evening were 16, 27, 59, 62 and 63 with a red Powerball number of 23. The Power Play option was 3X.

There is a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the grand prize, depending on the game.

A few lucky winners claimed a chunk of the cash after matching the five white numbers drawn on Wednesday, the game announced.

One player in Georgia won $1 million while two players – another in Georgia and one in Texas – chose the Power Play option to win $2 million.

The largest Powerball jackpot of 2023 — and the third in the game’s history — was won in July by a lucky player in California, who landed the $1.08 billion prize, the lottery said.

The jackpot has been up for grabs in 27 consecutive drawings since July’s win.

Behind that was a $754.6 million grand prize won by a player in Washington in February, marking the game’s sixth-largest prize ever.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per game and are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The game says more than half of the proceeds from ticket sales stay in the jurisdiction where they were sold.
