Florida Police are looking for Miya Marcano, a 19-year-old student who is missing, after finding signs of a struggle in her apartment, including a bloodstained pillow.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Ms Marcano was last seen on Friday, September 24 around 5 p.m. at the Arden Villas apartments on Arden Villas Boulevard in Orlando, Florida.
She lives in the building and works in the rental office while attending Valencia College.
Her family said they were scheduled to fly to Fort Lauderdale that evening, but did not make it to the airport.
Fox 35 reported that his bedroom door was blocked, his bedroom window was unlocked, and the room was in a mess. His pillow was stained with blood.
The missing woman’s father, local DJ Marlon Marcano, wrote on social media that “there were signs of a struggle in her apartment – and she could be in danger.”
The sheriff’s office did not say whether Ms Marcano’s disappearance was under investigation as a felony.
Grandmother Joysue Thompson told reporters, “All we ask is you help us bring Miya home. Get her home safely. Drop it. Tell us where she is. We are going to look for it. Just take her home.
Law enforcement searched a wooded area near the building on Sunday and used a helicopter to search for Ms Marcano from above.
Marlon Marcano wrote on his Instagram page on Sunday: “Mimi, my heart hurts. I haven’t slept or eaten in days. Where are you baby ??? Your whole family is here looking for you. We won’t stop until you get home.
He added: “I’m slowly losing my mind here. We have never been this long without even texting each other. Yes [you’re] able to read this message, know that your daddy and the whole world love you. Please don’t lose your faith. We will find you … I love you always and forever!
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Ms Marcano is 1.52 m tall and weighs 130 lbs (59 kg), with brown hair and green eyes. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about the case to call 407-836-4357.
“She quit work and went to her apartment, which is in the same complex, and which we never heard from again,” neighbor Anastasia Holland told News4Jax.
“She seemed shy, friendly and gentle, but calmer. When we realized who it was it was worrying anyway because I had a daughter of the same age, but (Marcano) was someone I knew and talked to so many times , it’s heartbreaking.
