Philadelphia Eagles player charged with rape and kidnapping days before Super Bowl departure

An Ohio grand jury has entered indictments against Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Joshua Sills, charging him with rape and kidnapping, officials said Wednesday.
The 25-year-old will face one count of first-degree rape and another count of first-degree kidnapping, stemming from an incident on December 5, 2019 in the county of Guernsey, according to court documents.
He was ordered to appear in court on February 16, four days after Philadelphia faced the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Sills has played just one game this season, qualifying for the Eagles’ Oct. 9 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He hasn’t been involved in either of Philadelphia’s two playoff wins so far in the playoffs.
A representative for the Eagles could not immediately be reached for comment on Wednesday.
Sills, a Sarahsville native, played collegiately at West Virginia and Oklahoma State before joining the Eagles as an undrafted free agent.
