Pension reform: 500 demonstrators gathered in the old center in Rennes [En images] – Reindeer

The call had been launched on social networks at the end of the afternoon. And the gathering, place Sainte-Anne, this Monday evening, started slowly from 9 p.m. But over the minutes, the group of activists, for some radicals, who came to express their hostility to the pension reform began to grow over the minutes, cheered up by the rejection of the motion of censure in the National Assembly.

At 10 p.m., some 500 young people – between 300 and 500 depending on the prefecture – stroll through the old center, starting a traditional game of cat and mouse with the police who crisscross the historic center. Garbage can fires, fed by the wooden panels covering the shop windows, are lit. Some banks and real estate agencies are downgraded. But the violence has nothing to do with the riots last Thursday evening.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the procession was on Boulevard de la Liberté, closely followed by the police. Around 10:30 p.m., some of the demonstrators were surrounded by the CRS on the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle while other young people dispersed in small groups in the city.

At 11:15 p.m., a fire was lit in Place Sainte-Anne.
