Former US Vice President Mike Pence has admitted that “documents bearing classified marks” were discovered in his personal residence, just two months after he attacked former President Donald Trump on almost identical charges. Last week, a representative for Pence sent a letter to the National Archives acknowledging classified files were “inadvertently boxed and transported” to Pence’s home near the end of the most recent administration, including a number which “could potentially contain sensitive information”. “Vice President Pence immediately secured these documents in a locked safe pending further instructions on proper handling from the National Archives,” the statement insisted. The former vice president found himself eating crow after lambasting his former boss for similar allegations. In November, Pence said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “obviously possessing classified documents in an unprotected area is not appropriate.”

As another senior official is under investigation for keeping classified documents at his private residence, it seems the decision by US leaders to “work from home” is coming back to haunt them.
