Brazilian football legend Pelé said he was undergoing routine hospital check-ups and was in good health, denying news of a more serious health problem.
“Guys, I haven’t passed out and I’m very healthy. I went there for my routine checkups, which I hadn’t been able to do before due to the pandemic, “said Pelé, 80. wrote on Twitter.
Pelé, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, is the only player to have won three World Cups.
Last year, her son said his father was depressed about his poor health and reluctant to leave home because he couldn’t walk without help, a claim Pele later rejected.
“I’m fine,” Pele said at the time. “I continue to come to terms with my physical limitations in the best possible way, but I intend to continue. I have good days and bad days. It’s normal for people my age. I am not afraid, I am determined, confident in what I do.
A representative for Pelé said he would be released from the hospital on Tuesday.
