Patrick Mahomes winning second Super Bowl would ignite comparisons to Tom Brady, says former Chiefs star

Patrick Mahomes leads the Kansas City Chiefs into their third Super Bowl appearance in the last four seasons with a shot at a second ring firmly within range – all before his 28th birthday.

Mahomes is tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer Len Dawson in the first six seasons of his career. The Texas native has one ringside, three conference championships, five Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro nods. Dawson had one ringside, three AFL championships, seven Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro nominations from 1957 to 1975.

Former Chiefs star Jamaal Charles believes what Mahomes has done already makes him one of the best players in franchise history and puts him on the right path to nabbing Tom Brady as the greatest of all. all the time.

“He’s definitely passed me to already be the greatest head player of all time with what he’s accomplished,” Charles told Fox News Digital in a recent interview. “He’s already won a Super Bowl and he’s been to the Super Bowl three times. He’s definitely one of the greatest Chiefs players of all time, and so is Travis Kelce.

“If he wins this, it’s not about the Chiefs – it’s what his legacy (will be) in the NFL. Can he keep chasing Tom Brady. That’s basically the point. Everyone going to start comparing it.”

Charles was a four-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro with Kansas City. He had 7,260 yards and 43 touchdowns in his nine seasons with the Chiefs. He expressed to Fox News Digital how confident he was that Kansas City would be successful.

BOWLER PETE WEBER REFLECTS ON FAMOUS QUOTE AFTER PATRICK MAHOMES TWEETED HIM IN CELEBRATION

“I’m one hundred (percentage confident) to be a Chiefs player,” Charles said. “A lot of people don’t believe, so it kind of makes me feel like I should believe. I wonder why? A lot of people think the Eagles are going to win. But I believe in coach Andy Reid. They’re making a great job getting their players ready before a bye and getting them ready for a game. I know everyone in the locker room is going to be engrossed and ready to play.

“Some of the guys have been on this scene before and some of the Eagles players have been on the scene as well – some of the defensive guys – but we have the experience of the offensive guys and we have the experience of the defensive guys.”

Charles hopes the Chiefs can pull off the dubbing on Sunday and with that, the team can deliver ice cold beers for their Super Bowl celebration.
