FIRST ON FOX: Senate John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Energy and Natural Resources Committee member, surveyed the national park’s confidence in lodge Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s, D-California., district on its financial autonomy required by the federal government.
Barrasso sent the letter to President of the Presidio Trust, Lynne Benioff, regarding the trust’s federal financial obligations.
The Presidio Trust in San Francisco oversees the national park and, according to the legislation that established the trust, it must be financially self-sufficient.
PELOSI’S MAJOR DONORS SITTING ON SF PARK’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ITS DISTRICT ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE $ 200 MILLION FROM TAXPAYERS
“The Presidio Trust Act states that the Presidio of San Francisco must be financially self-sufficient and should not receive funding from the US taxpayer,” Barrasso wrote. “The Presidio Trust website further confirms this by stating that the park is run ‘at no cost to the taxpayer’.
Barrasso noted that “$ 200 million in public funds” had been “earmarked” for the park by Pelosi and the Democratic House leaders “as part of their reckless tax and budget spending legislation” and referred to a Fox News article that revealed several members of the trust’s board of directors. – including Benioff – are Pelosi’s main donors.
The senator asked Benioff to answer a list of questions regarding the trust’s financial obligations, asking if the Presidio is “currently self-sufficient, in accordance with its covenants and the law” and if the park “tenants are required to contribute funds for maintenance and deferred maintenance of the facility.
He also asked the council to provide its “plan” for the hundreds of millions of dollars in funds as well as a “full account of deferred maintenance within the Presidio” and a list of the park’s current tenants.
The Presidio Trust’s board of directors includes several Democratic donors who have cumulatively donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to pro-Pelosi efforts over the years.

Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammill told Fox News in a phone call Thursday that the park predated current board members and that Presidio National Park was a legislative feature of the president’s career in Congress.
Hammill also lambasted the idea that donors on the board had something to do with the proposal for the park to receive $ 200 million in taxpayer dollars, calling it a “silly thing invented by disinformation” and noting that Pelosi is “known to preserve the Presidio” in his life in public service.
The Presidio Trust did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
