Pakistani police search for gang members accused of mistreating minors and making pornographic videos in a marriage hall in the eastern province of Punjab

MULTAN, Pakistan – Pakistani police said they were looking for members of a gang accused of abusing minors and making pornographic videos at a wedding hall in the eastern province of Punjab.

Four suspects in the group have already been arrested during a raid Friday evening in the district of Sahiwal, said officer Umar Daraz. The men were brought to court on Saturday, allowing police to question them for four days.

Daraz said police seized 46 pornographic videos from cell phones and a USB flash drive, which allegedly showed the suspects sodomizing boys between the ages of eight and 12.

Initial questioning revealed that one of the gang members is a vendor at the city’s main bus station, he said, adding that the man would lure runaway or begging boys into the marriage hall. . The evidence indicates that more suspects are involved in the crime and that police are looking for them, Daraz said.

Earlier this year, federal investigators arrested two men suspected of links to an international child pornography ring. Investigations into this case revealed that one of the men was posting child pornography videos on the dark web.

Child abuse is not uncommon in parts of Pakistan, where parliament recently passed laws to increase sentences for those convicted of such crimes.
