A man was fatally shot in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis Thursday night, and two other people were injured in what police describe as a drive-by shooting.
The incident happened around 11:25 p.m. in the 500 block of S. 15th Ave., police spokesman Garrett Parten said.
The victims were sitting in a parked car when another vehicle stopped and someone in that vehicle started shooting. The suspects then rushed in, Parten said.
Minneapolis and University of Minnesota Police Department officers arrived to find a man with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided assistance until the man died at the scene, Parten said.
A woman who was in the car in which shots were fired was located near the S 4and Street, while a man who was also in the car was found on nearby Cedar Avenue. Both suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, Parten said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the shooter and the victims know each other, Parten said.
No arrests were made. This is Minneapolis’ third homicide of 2022.
