Ollie Pope will miss the next four games of Surrey’s Vitality Blast after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

Pope was expected to be available for selection again after playing in England’s Test Series loss to New Zealand.

However, he will now have to self-isolate and will not be available until June 24.

A statement from Surrey said: ‘Ollie Pope will not be available to play cricket until June 24 after coming into contact with someone who tests positive for Covid-19.

“He will now have to isolate himself until then.

“Pope did not come into contact with the individual during his stay with England during the recent LV = Insurance test round against New Zealand and he has had no contact with players or staff at the Surrey CCC. “

Pope is expected to miss matches against Sussex, Hampshire, Essex and Somerset, but could return against Middlesex on June 25.

England opener Rory Burns is set to return for Surrey against Essex next Monday after being given an extended break after the Test series.

Surrey have won all three Vitality Blast games this season.

The rest of the England test team return to their county squads this week.
