‘Not a good guy in the locker room’ – Arsenal legend Brady takes aim at Gunners outcast Ozil

The former Germany international has not played for the Gunners since March as his stay in north London nears its end

Arsenal legend Liam Brady has targeted Mesut Ozil, claiming the former Germany the international is “not a good guy in the locker room” and “not a good guy in the field”.

Ozil appears to have no future at Arsenal as he has not played for the club since March and is not part of coach Mikel Arteta’s Premier League squad.

The deterioration of the relationship is disappointing for everyone involved with the club, as Ozil is one of the most gifted players in the game when he is singing.

As the Gunners fight for form, we focused a lot on Arteta and his management of the team.

Arsenal are clamoring for the kind of creativity Ozil can produce, but Brady believes the coach was right to cut him adrift.

“I don’t blame Arteta on Ozil,” Brady, who won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 1979, made 307 appearances for the club and was named their eighth greatest player in their history, said the Keys and Gray Podcast. “He gave Ozil a lot of chances and he played for a few months.

“Ozil just got back to type.

“He’s not a good guy in the locker room, he’s not a good guy on the pitch.

“I have no problem with Mikel bombing him.”

Arteta told a press conference Thursday that there would be departures from the club in January.

Ozil’s close friend Sead Kolasinac has already left the club to join Bundesliga side Schalke for rent, and there will likely be other departures.

Whether Ozil heads to new pasture in January will likely depend on whether he can persuade the player to take a pay cut.

He signed a deal worth £ 350,000 per week in January 2018 and which will run until summer 2021.

If Ozil can’t be persuaded to move on in January, he will almost certainly be leaving Emirates Stadium for a free transfer this summer.

Arteta will be hoping that the focus will be on his team’s form in the second half of the season. They closed 2020 with consecutive wins Chelsea and Brighton and kick off 2021 with a trip to West Brom.
