Norm Macdonald, former of “SNL”, died at 61

“Saturday Night Live” comedian and alumnus Norm Macdonald was pronounced dead at 61 after a private nine-year battle with cancer.

The deadline confirmed via the management company of Macdonald Brillstein Entertainment on Tuesday that he was deceased.

Lori Jo Hoekstra, production partner and longtime friend of the former ‘Weekend Update’ host, told the publication: “He was very proud of his comedy. He never wanted the diagnosis to affect how that audiences or loved ones saw him. Norm was pure comedian. He once wrote that “a joke should surprise someone, it should never flatter.” He certainly never flattered. Norm will be sadly missed.
