The Super Eagles return to the Africa Cup of Nations today and are looking to join hosts Cameroon in the last 16 with one game to spare.

Nigeria got off to the best possible start to the latest edition of the AFCON, with Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half goal earning Mohamed Salah and seven-time champions Egypt in a heavyweight clash in the Group D in Garoua.

It was a notable victory for Augustine Eguavoen’s side, who will seal their place in the round of 16 with another triumph at Stade Roumde Adjia on Saturday afternoon.

Nigeria – whose last AFCON title dates back to 2013 – will be heavy favorites to beat 1970 champions Sudan, who are taking part in the tournament for the first time in a decade.

The Jediane Falcons held Guinea-Bissau to a goalless draw in their midweek opener, goalkeeper Ali Abu Eshrein fending off Pele’s penalty in the 82nd minute.
