The Magpies will face AC Milan at San Siro on Tuesday evening with thousands of fans turning out to support their team in Europe’s top competition.
talkSPORT understands Newcastle are aware of the reports and are in contact with local authorities.
Supporters arrived in Milan on Monday and were spotted on social media touring the city.
One clip shows fans taking part in human bowling in the rain before things take a sinister turn in the evening.
Newcastle will be keen to get their Champions League campaign off to an ideal start as they prepare to face an extremely tough group containing AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
It is the first time the club has participated in these competitions since 2003, when the Magpies were eliminated in the qualifying rounds by Partizan Belgrade.
But with ambitious new owners in place at St James’ Park, the hope will be that the Tynesiders can prove they are worthy of dining at Europe’s highest table.
That said, while results on the pitch are obviously important, priority must be given to the safety of the supporters who have traveled to see their team in action.
