A New York public school teacher has been arrested for exchanging sex messages with a 16-year-old student, police have said.
Shahiem Willis, 25, was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with acting in a manner harmful to a child in connection with the illicit exchange with the teenager, police said.
The “text messages with sexual content” were sent between July 19 and July 20 in Queens, authorities said.
Online records indicate that Willis is a general education, daytime teacher, although it is not immediately clear at which school.
The city’s Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
Police released the photo of Willis on Tuesday in the hope that the public can “provide further information” about him.
