The Cheltenham New Years reunion was abandoned due to the congestion.
An inspection was due to take place on the course at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday – but shortly before that, a Tweet from the official Cheltenham account signaled that the planned card will not take place.
It read: “The New Year’s races are abandoned.
“Following 85mm of rain since last Wednesday, there are areas of waterlogged ground across the width of the course, so it is not racable.”
The seven-race card was to feature Level 2 Dornan Engineering Relkeel Hurdle.
