New direct $1,000 thank you payment sent in 5 days

SCHOOL teachers employed in Maryland could receive $1,000 in surprise “thank you” stimulus bonus.
The cash payment will be sent to employees of Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a token of appreciation, according to a superintendent.

The bonus would come from vacancies in the school system and will be extended to “all permanent employees, except those on leave of absence” on December 16.
In a letter written to the AACPS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mark Bedell wrote, “No school system can be great without great people.
“As I’ve said before, the work you’re doing in the face of tough challenges is amazing.
“No matter your role in our school system, our students benefit every day from your dedication and passion. Please never forget that.

Badell explained that the premium is supported by the AACPS school board and the school system will not need additional funds to cover the premiums.
He said the AAPCS recognized the “very difficult circumstances” that employees faced amid rising inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also thanked the teachers for their loyalty, citing the growing shortage of public school teachers across the country.
“I fully realize the bonus is a small gesture of appreciation,” Bedell added.
“However, it’s extremely important to me and to the school board that we continue to find ways to just say ‘thank you’.”
In addition to the cash bonus, employees are also set to receive a health care bonus holiday on Dec. 28.
As of this date, no health care premiums will be deducted from the employee’s salary, according to reports.
Elsewhere, several other states offered a surprise gift to teaching employees.
