NBA Twitter reacts to Devin Booker’s 40-point triple-double against Clippers: “So special”

Devin Booker led the Suns to a 120-114 victory over the Clippers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday.

Booker was dynamic in helping replace Chris Paul, who was absent after testing positive for COVID-19. Booker was the Suns’ top scorer and distributor, and the results were excellent.

Booker totaled 40 points and 11 assists as the ball’s dominant presence, and he added 13 rebounds for the first triple-double of his career.

He joined Charles Barkley as two Suns to record a 40-point triple double in a playoff game. Only three players have made it in the history of the conference finals: Booker, Barkley and LeBron James.

Booker may have to keep pushing the Suns forward. Phoenix coach Monty Williams said after the game Paul was still in the league’s COVID protocols and was “on a day-to-day basis,” per Rachel Nichols of ESPN.

Either way, Booker’s performance was certainly memorable, and he received a lot of praise from prominent NBA figures, media figures, and fans for his efforts in the opening victory of the Suns series.
