In a February 2021 interview with QG, the couple opened up about their decision to keep their relationship out of the public eye.
“We dated for almost a year before people knew about us, so we move around in a very reclusive way,” Cordae told the outlet. “We don’t really post intimate moments, because I feel like they’re sacred. A relationship really is a sacred thing. Once you let outside influences in, it becomes less sacred.”
Describing Cordae as “quite a romantic guy”, Naomi explained that his support was essential to her success at the 2020 US Open when she was unable to bring her family with her due to quarantine restrictions.
“During everything that was going on in New York and with everything that was going on, I started to feel really depressed. Sometimes I called Cordae, and maybe in some calls I cried. I didn’t don’t remember,” she explained. “And he flew off, even though he was very busy. I really appreciated that. I don’t know if I told him that. I feel like he really helped me win just, like, to keep the motivation going.”
