A decree was published to this effect, this Saturday in the Official Journal. The government is thus following the recommendation issued on July 25 by the High Authority for Health (HAS).
“The detection of the Monkeypox virus genome is carried out in the event of diagnostic doubt (atypical symptomatology and/or uncharacterized contamination context)”, it is specified in this decree. The HAS indeed indicated that “the diagnosis of infection by the Monkeypox virus is based in first intention on the clinical examination and the questioning of the patient. Detection by NAAT (test, editor’s note) only intervenes to confirm or not the infection by the virus, when the clinical picture is not sufficiently explicit ”.
First deaths outside Africa
The first deaths, outside Africa, of people infected with monkeypox were announced on Friday, a few hours apart, by Spain and Brazil, without it being known whether the virus is at the origin. of these two deaths.
