Mngqithi from Mamelodi Sundowns on Zwane fitness, Motupa and Erasmus updates

Brazilians have already won the league title and look to fitness issues in their camp

Mamelodi Sundowns has not been clear on Themba Zwane’s availability for Wednesday’s Premier Soccer League trip to Bloemfontein Celtic, but has confirmed striker Gift Motupa is back from injury while Kermit Erasmus and Keletso Makgalwa are ruled out .

Zwane played 51 minutes in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Swallows FC and was replaced by Sibusiso Vilakazi, but the club have been shy about his form.

Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi, however, said his team were in “good space” despite injury issues.

“I think the preparations went very well. We were unhappy to lose Themba Zwane in our game against Swallows, ”Mngqithi told Sundowns media.

“But Motupa is coming back, which is great for us. We don’t have too many injuries at this point. We only have Kermit, we also have Makgalwa but in general the team is in a very good space and that promises to give us an interesting game.

The Sundowns face a Celtic side who knocked them out of MTN8 early in the season before holding them 0-0 in the reverse league game at Lucas Moripe Stadium in January.

“Bloemfontein Celtic has always given us a really big bang for our buck,” said Mngqithi.

“They are a very organized team, playing very good football, which makes life very difficult for us in most cases. But we think we have a team that can break them. We looked at their games, profiled them. players they’ve been using lately. They can hurt you if you take them for granted. It’s a game we have to win at all costs, so we want to give our best. ”

Sundowns may have sealed the league title by now, but they are playing for prestige as they look to end the season with just one loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

Intentions to end their campaign on 69 points were shaken when they were held by the Swallows and the best they can handle now is 67 points if they win their two league games.

“We think our boys are a bit more professional. We didn’t get off to a good start against Swallows, ”said Mngqithi.

“There were a lot of conditions, the pitch was not very good but I also think the players didn’t understand how important it was for us to fight for a result in this game. spoke to them, they resumed their game and they started to show signs that they wanted to win it.

“We were unlucky not to come up with a result from there. There have been many other circumstances which I think have also hampered the progress of the team in this game, but everything is promising.
