MLB Twitter sends messages of support for Clevevland’s Josh Naylor after horrific injury

Josh Naylor suffered a horrific-looking injury while leading Cleveland right-field on Sunday afternoon.

He collided with second baseman Ernie Clement at full speed as the two attempted to play on a ball struck into shallow right field by the Twins’ Jorge Polanco. Naylor flew off and when he landed he awkwardly fell on his right leg, which buckled under him. He was writhing in pain on the ground after the injury.

Here is a video of the game. (WARNING: Contains graphic images.)

Medics placed Naylor’s leg in a cast before transporting him off the field.

Cleveland manager Terry Francona told reporters after the game (by Zack Meisel from The Athletic) that Naylor suffered a fracture and was evaluated in a hospital. Francona added that the team were unsure whether Naylor could travel with the Minneapolis squad to Cleveland.

Naylor, 24, has appeared in 69 games for Cleveland this season and produced a .253 / .301 / 0.399 slash line and seven home runs.
