Mississippi State’s Mike Leach hospitalized with ‘personal health issue’, school says

Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach was hospitalized Sunday with a “personal health issue” at his home, the school said in a statement.
Mississippi State football prepares to play in the ReliaQuest Bowl at Raymond James Stadium on New Years Day in Tampa, Florida. So far, Leach has not been ruled out. Instead, the school said defensive coordinator Zach Arnett had been put in charge of the team until Leach returned.

“Mike Leach, head football coach at Mississippi State University, had a personal health issue at his home earlier today,” the school said. “This issue led to the decision to transfer Coach Leach to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by ambulance.”
“This is the extent of the information MSU has regarding Coach Leach’s condition, and the university will have no further comment at this time other than to say the thoughts and prayers of the university. go to Mike and Sharon and their family.”

Leach, 61, took over at Mississippi State ahead of the 2020 season after eight successful years at Washington State. In 36 games since 2020, he’s 19-17 and has led the Bulldogs to a bowling game in each of his first three seasons.
