The Ministry of Consumer Affairs on Thursday asked importers of pulses to declare their stocks after reports of blocked stocks of masoor dal surfaced. Consumer Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh told CNBC TV18 that the ministry will not let anyone take unfair advantage of the situation.

“We are making sure that no one takes unfair advantage of the situation by trying to artificially increase prices. We will not allow anyone to game the system,” he said.

The department has written to the chief secretaries of all states in this regard.

The ministry reported vans to sell onions at Rs 25 per kg and chana dal at Rs 60 per kg. The discounted onions and chana dal will be available on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
