Meghan Markle news: Prince Harry left stumped by ‘tough’ questions about UK citizenship test as Meg opens up about living at home

The Duchess has found the ‘ideal’ trope of ‘ambitious’ mother and wife

Growing up, she watched typical family shows and found them formative in her development.

Meghan Markle admitted on her podcast that she used to watch shows like I Love Lucy, The Flintstones and The Jetsons.

These programs present a typical family life, with the “perfect” mother and wife.

She reflected, “Perfectly polite, the happy housewife, with the perfect apron, dinner in the oven, husband’s slippers at the door.

“It was all an aspiration for me, and being a mum was too,” the Duchess added, before revealing, “I saved my money to buy a diaper bag at K-Mart like real mums do. I didn’t want a fake for my doll.

Meghan spoke of always wanting to be a mother, she said: ‘I wanted to be a mom, as much as I wanted to be a woman and at the same time, also at a young age, I was a feminist.

“And despite what people think, I haven’t found these things to be mutually exclusive.”

She said: “The pressures imposed to be a good mother, wife, are quite tricky and in many ways wrong.

“You can be feminist and feminine,” Meghan continued, before concluding that it’s most important, “to be a good person” first and foremost.
