Mark Cuban smoked The Athletic on Monday.
Reporters Tim Cato and Sam Amick released a report portraying less than positive light on the Mavericks’ front office; the report states that star player Luka Doncic is having issues with the squad, particularly with executive Bob Voulgaris and the apparent inability to build a championship squad around him.
The Mavericks owner responded to the report on Twitter later today.
“Total bulls—” reads Cuban’s tweet.

It also seems to solidify the idea that the report – and the media – is trying to stir up drama within the Mavericks organization while the team is on the rise.
That’s why the writer only contacted me right before the op-ed was published. And I never spoke to him until it was posted I passed the facts on to him and then https://t.co/56lMBelEGV

Athletic’s report says Voulgaris has amassed so much power and influence within the organization despite his title – officially director of quantitative research and development – that he is de facto Cuba’s second-in-command. .
Before landing in the front office of Mavs, Voulgaris had forged a reputation as a leading sports player. Voulgaris’ squeaky personality, according to The Athletic, has caused unease within the Mavs front office and strained relations with Doncic, with an incident during a game in February being the breaking point.
This isn’t the first time that a report has put Cuba in the wrong direction: Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that the Mavericks were planning to leave Kristaps Porzingis this offseason, which Cuba has denied.
While Doncic is well positioned to sign a super-max deal with Dallas in the near future, all eyes are on the squad to see if the Mavericks drama can be tamed.
