Marcus Rashford doesn’t look happy at Manchester United with ‘worrying’ behavior, but leaving Old Trafford, like Jesse Lingard, could be good for him

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford may need a transfer away from the club to revive his career.

Former England striker Lianne Sanderson thinks the 24-year-old’s behavior is worrying and suggests he needs an arm around him.

Rashford is not at his best and that’s clear to everyone

Rashford is currently out of form after returning from surgery for a shoulder injury.

He has just two goals and one assist in 11 Premier League appearances and is struggling in caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick’s squad.

And Sanderson, a Reds Devils fan, has admitted concerns about his form.

She told talkSPORT: “Right now Marcus Rashford looks like he needs an arm around him. He’s not playing well. He’s not looking at himself. And he doesn’t look happy.

Can Rangnick, who is yet to impress at Man United, get the most out of Rashford?

“I feel a little worried for him at the moment, as for himself.

“Yes, when you have a drop in form it affects everything you do. We saw him tweet the other week I think he said he knew he hadn’t been good enough.

“When you’re in that situation, you feel like you just keep drowning and drowning. He looks like he doesn’t want the next game to come. He looks like he’s in a really bad past.

“I’m not making excuses for him, but I’ll watch out for people who get on his back.

“I tweeted about him not looking at himself because I think people make excuses, especially for England players, a lot of excuses are made. But he’s not looking at himself.

Rashford has now gone 11 games without a goal

“Maybe he is the player we all thought he would be? Was it too soon? Has it ever been as good as everyone thinks?

Last season, a half-season loan to West Ham saw Jesse Lingard go from pariah to Euro 2020 contender with nine goals and four assists.

And Sanderson believes a similar deal could be a catalyst for Rashford.

“I think a move, at some point, could be good for him too,” she added.

Lingard played at the London Stadium but returned to the shadows at Old Trafford

Sanderson was asked about the idea and replied, “What are we going to do? Stand there and do exactly what he’s doing now? If he continues like this for the next two or three seasons, are we just going to say he’s going to stay there?

“Maybe he’s been through so much at the club, like Jesse Lingard, that a fresh start [will be good].

“Look when Jesse Lingard went to West Ham.”
