Manchester United ‘close’ to agreeing new contract for wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho after transfer interests from Real Madrid and Barcelona

Manchester United are close to finalizing a new contract for wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine has established himself at Old Trafford this season and is a regular on manager Erik ten Hag’s bench.

Across all competitions, the 18-year-old has made 20 appearances, scoring two goals and four assists.

And now the Red Devils are hoping to tie him down on a contract until 2028.

The Premier League giants, after the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to AS, are keen to make Garnacho a poster boy for the club, especially in South America.

Man United believe the young striker, who idolizes the Portuguese icon ahead of compatriot Lionel Messi, can help them gain a foothold on the continent, like when local youngsters regularly traveled to Lancashire.

It’s perhaps surprising now that image rights are delaying the deal that looks set to close.

Reports suggest everything could be wrapped up in the coming days and in December it was thought a ‘tenfold’ increase in his salary was expected.

This would bring the youngster to a salary of around £50,000 a week.

Man United are wary of European giants interested in their teenage talent.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with Garnacho in the past but at the moment it looks like his future remains at Old Trafford.
