Manchester City will face Liverpool in the Community Shield this afternoon as the curtain-raiser for the 2022/23 season.
The two best teams from last year will face off once again in a bid to lift the first trophy of the campaign before the Premier League returns.
City edged the Reds for the title, while Jurgen Klopp’s men won the FA Cup and they were also active in the transfer market.
The defending champions signed Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega and Julian Alvarez, while the Reds signed Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho.
The Community Shield is part of the pre-season schedule, but every time these two meet there are fireworks, and it would be a surprise if it was different this time around, especially with all the new additions.
