Haaland hasn’t been sensational since swapping Borussia Dortmund for the Etihad in the summer.

In total, he has now found the back of the net 26 times in all competitions, including 20 in the top flight.

The Norway international has scored in 11 of his 14 Premier League games and was once again the star of the show on his return to Yorkshire.

The victory means City have reduced the gap on league leaders Arsenal to five points.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds when his father Alf-Inge played for Los Blancos, took until the 51st minute to get on the scoresheet.

After Rodri broke the deadlock for the visitors just before the break, Haaland doubled the Citizens’ lead after tapping home into an empty net after Jack Grealish squared the ball to him.

And Haaland was chosen again by Grealish 13 minutes later, where he swept the ball into the bottom right corner past the outstretched arms of Islan Meslier.

In doing so, he created Premier League history by scoring 20 goals in 14 games, ahead of Phillips. [21]Fernando Torres [27]Alan Shear [29] and Sergio Aguero [30].

Another incredible stat is that Haaland is the fastest player to score 25 goals under Pep Guardiola – breaking Lionel Messi’s record [28 games] by eight matches.

Tottenham marksman Harry Kane meanwhile took 40 games to score 20 top-flight goals.

Haaland also surpassed his father’s record of scoring more Premier League goals in 167 fewer games.

Dad Alf-Inge was in the stands to watch his two former clubs in action, where he was seen with a huge smile on his face as his son continues to break records.

Leeds threatened to stage a late comeback when Pascal Struijk pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute.

And they almost had a second when substitute Joe Gelhardt closed in shortly after.

But City never looked threatened, as they cruised to a 3-1 victory in a scoreline that mirrored Leeds.

Pep Guardiola’s side put pressure on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal while moving Newcastle into second place.

As for Leeds, they remain in 15th place – two points above the relegation zone.
