REAL MADRID is reportedly preparing a surprising move for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold in next summer’s transfer window.

The England defender is one of the options the La Liga giants are considering, according to the Spanish website El Nacional.

The report acknowledges that Alexander-Arnold is one of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s “untouchables” but says the move “cannot be ruled out.”

He adds that the right-back is a problematic position for Real, as Álvaro Odriozola is on loan in Italy to Fiorentina and Dani Carvajal continues to suffer numerous injuries.

Alexander-Arnold has been a revelation since he made his Liverpool debut in 2016 and missed Euro 2020 due to injury.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form to Liverpool’s brilliant start to the season and is in contention for Saturday’s trip to Brentford following his return to training this week after injury.

And it is those demonstrations that are said to have convinced former Everton boss and now Real manager Carlo Ancelotti that Kop’s star can solve his weak point on defense.

Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea-hired rebel Antonio Rudiger are also on the radar for Real Madrid’s right-back.

Any Alexander-Arnold move is likely to meet stiff resistance from Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy.

The Liverpool academy graduate signed a new long-term contract in July that will keep him at the club until 2025.

The star was on the Premier League Team of the Year when Liverpool won the title in 2020 and has been repeatedly described by Klopp as “world-class.”
