Laury Thilleman presents the Victoires de la Musique: “My scales, I did them in Brittany”

On Friday, you will present the 38th Victoires de la Musique. This is the third time that you will host this evening. But there, you will be alone on stage. Ho are you doing ?

I feel good, fairly aligned and happy with everything that is happening to me. It is nevertheless a sacred consecration. I’m moved. I feel that it is a turn and I take the measure.

In your opinion, why does France 2 trust you so much?

I wish I could answer that question… It’s hard to sell yourself. (Silence) I guess I did my job well. Casually, I’ve been on France Télévisions for a few years. I have the feeling of having become the big sister of all these artists in the making.

I imagine the pressure is on. Two years ago, you told us that presenting the Victoires de la Musique was “dizzying”.

So far, I was in tandem (with Stéphane Bern in 2021 and Olivier Minne in 2022, Ed). From now on, I know the score, I am no longer in discovery. So, in a way, that reassures me. I think it will roll. Then the show is live. So we are not immune to imponderables.

I have two shows to manage in the same week. There, I am “split” in two

During this preparation, I am accompanied physically and mentally by a coach. It’s a comfort that I wanted to allow myself this year. Because beyond the Victories, two days before, I animate a bonus, “The Love Song Festival”, for February 14th. My work week is ultra-dense, because I have two shows to manage. There, I am “split” in two. I can’t just focus on Victories, that would be too easy. I had to be armed for it.

What are your other projects with France Télévisions?

There will be the “Oriental Song Festival”. We’re going to shoot this in March. Of course, there will also be the “Music Festival”.

In June, will you therefore ensure the presentation of this prime time?

All the event and musical bonuses, it’s supposed to be “bibi”. I imagine that now, we do not ask too much the question. (She thinks) Afterwards, you shouldn’t be too confident, but normally, that should do it.

For now yes. In terms of dates, it was hard to do everything.

So it’s not a question of audiences?

No, because for once, it worked well. In fact, France 2 would like to keep the musical aspect. As for France 3, the channel has another guideline.

In this month of February, the Brestois Miossec and Matmatah are releasing a new album. Do you follow them?

I follow them thoroughly, I talk about them regularly in the interviews I give for the Victoires. Afterwards, I’m too nostalgic, because I’m above all a fan of “Brest” and “La Ouache”. Speaking of Matmatah, I saw them at Les Vieilles Charrues last summer.

The people of Brest understand what I do and the meaning I try to give to all of this

Yes, I was a little surprised. It’s as if the Brest public were more present than in previous years. The longer it goes, the bigger it gets. Before, it was a more superficial relationship. There, it’s as if books, TV, etc., were a hyphen between them and me. They understand what I’m doing and the meaning I’m trying to give to it all. It touches me even more!

If I tell you that Jules, one of our young colleagues, says: “Laury Thilleman is the only Miss we remember”. What do you answer?

That’s because he’s chauvinistic.

No, not at all, because he is from Drôme.

Oh yes ? It’s crazy. It’s too nice, it’s too cute. It’s the kind of little reflection that is super touching. Thank you Jules! Miss France is a wonderful springboard. But I wanted to transform this essay, I wanted to tell the story that was mine. It’s not pejorative what I’m going to say here, but I didn’t want to be a product.
