Kylian Mbappe’s deal with Paris Saint-Germain has been branded ‘ridiculous’ by Tony Cascarino but LaLiga’s complaints are ‘hilarious’ with the organization unable to complain.
Mbappe has ended intense speculation over his future by re-signing from Paris, much to the fury of suitors Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants had long been chasing the 23-year-old World Cup winner, who was set to become a free agent, and seemed destined for Madrid.
However, a late decision to stay in Paris has drawn anger in Spain, with a statement from La Liga calling the deal ‘scandalous’ and confirming they will report PSG to UEFA for breaching fair play financial.
talkSPORT host Cascarino, who played in France for six years, is not surprised by the blockbuster contract, saying things are only likely to get worse.
He said: “The initial deal they got him out of Monaco was a bit weird because they loaned him out for a year and then they bought Neymar because they couldn’t do that transfer. from Monaco, they paid almost 180 million euros for him with add-ons and bonuses.
“He gets a ridiculous contract, this contract is ridiculous, but wait until it ends in three years if he’s still successful, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t do it with PSG, he’s going to get another ridiculous contract in two or three years.
“It’s happened to him before, the Monaco deal was quite laughable compared to what most players were in French football because PSG are on a completely different level to any other club in France they can’t play against. not even compete.”

Ultimately, Spanish teams can’t compete with Qatar-backed spending either, with La Liga claiming the deal ‘attacks the economic stability of European football’.
Cascarino, however, found the statement laughable, given Madrid and Barcelona’s history of dominating the transfer market.
He explained: “I find it quite hilarious really because LaLiga signed ‘Galacticos’, certainly to Real Madrid, it allowed their deals to go through.
“They have to tick the box when clubs sign players to match the financial requirements of those clubs.
“Barcelona, did they look at the deal when Lionel Messi signed for €470m on a four-year deal? Now you’re talking about ridiculous offers, when he was the best player in the world.
“LaLiga is very guilty of allowing its clubs, because they want their league, television rights around the world to be the most important.
“They have allowed their two biggest clubs to get into serious trouble on a regular basis because of the type of deals, contracts and transfers that their clubs under their umbrella have allowed.”
