Kevin Owens Salutes Triple H, Recalls His Own “Incredible” WrestleManias With Sami Zayn, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins & Stone Cold Steve Austin

Kevin Owens says Triple H is the only reason he’s in WWE today.

The former Universal Champion was the envy of his peers when he worked with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 and recently signed a new long-term contract with WWE.

Triple H brought Owens to WWE in 2014

The 38-year-old Canadian joined WWE in 2014 as NXT began to become the black and yellow brand many die-hard fans loved.

Owens, speaking to talkSPORT, told us that Triple H had been instrumental in all of his WWE success and how good it was to see The Cerebral Assassin after his “heart event”.

“I wouldn’t be here without him,” Owens began. That’s all about it. When you say period, that’s really it. No one has done more for me than Triple H in my career.

“I think I echo what everyone said: It’s very unfortunate that he couldn’t retire in the ring, but he made the right decision for himself and his family. So it’s the right decision, it’s a good decision.

Owens would have liked the chance to spark a feud with The Game, but seeing the 52-year-old healthy is what matters.

“I selfishly wish I had the chance to fight him and he and I have talked about it before.

Owens says no one has done more for him in wrestling than Triple H

“I think we both assumed it would eventually happen. Obviously, that can’t happen, but in the grand scheme of things, who cares, you know?

“Seeing him yesterday was so awesome. Seeing him after a few months of not seeing him when he was everywhere all the time, and he looked amazing, looked amazing, it was really, really awesome.

“Because this guy has done so much for so many people in this industry,” Owens concluded.

Owens has remained close with Triple H

Triple H was once known as the man with the “shovel of gold” to wrestling fans on the internet, known for burying talent behind the scenes and getting his way into big places.

Owens was aware of this perception before joining WWE, but he says Triple H has proven these notions wrong at every turn.

He said, “There’s always been this reputation around him, hasn’t there? I always thought he was really good at what he did and for me he always elevated the shows he was on and the people he worked with so I never really had that reputation.

Triple H helped Owens become an on-screen world champion

“I wasn’t surprised when I met him that he was a guy who aimed to grow the industry and give people a chance. He confirmed my guesses many times over the past few years and many of us – many of us – wouldn’t be here without him.

Owens was able to participate in the first night of the main event of WrestleMania with Stone Cold Steve Austin and this incredible moment added to Owens’ growing legacy at WrestleMania.

“I had some pretty amazing WrestleManias. The low point was WrestleMania 35 where I wasn’t involved at all. Hopefully that never happens again.

The Main Event with Stone Cold Steve Austin was a dream for Owens

“But I won the US title from Chris Jericho at WrestleMania, I was in the ring for Daniel Bryan’s comeback at WrestleMania 34, WrestleMania 35 came and went, but then I worked with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36 , a man I’ve traveled the roads with and know so well. Then I got him [points to Sami Zayn] at WrestleMania 37 and I didn’t think we would be better last year.

“Me and him together, singles match at WrestleMania, it doesn’t go any further than that as far as sentimental value goes, does it? Except, look what happened this year. Unreal,” Owens said.
