Minority parliamentary leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) Tweeted an all-caps rant against the vaccination warrants on Sunday.
“NO VACCINE MANDATE,” her message simply read.
McCarthy’s message did not mention a specific vaccine. However, it comes as Republicans fight pressure from President Joe Biden to demand that most Americans get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The congressman was among the first people in the United States to receive a coronavirus vaccine. He tweeted about getting a “safe and efficient” shot on December 20, just nine days after the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for the Pfizer shot.
Vaccination warrants have been common throughout United States history.
McCarthy’s critics had no patience for his all-caps post:
If it weren’t for the fact that McCarthy knows this, but also knows the issues he doesn’t need, I would feel the need to remind him for the gazillionth time that vaccination mandates are perfectly constitutional. both historically and through the precedent SCOTUS of Jacobson v. Massachusetts. https://t.co/Lh2OO88Ve8
