The first game of the post-Clay Helton era at USC got off to a bad start.
The Trojans came out three times in the game’s first practice, but with 12:56 left in the first, starting quarterback Kedon Slovis was sacked in third and 12 and lay down on the turf before being cared for by coaches and leave the field on their own.

While this was potentially encouraging for the caller from USC, he was replaced by freshman Jaxson Dart on the next record.

Dart made matters worse and worse for the Trojans, wasting the initial momentum and throwing an interception in his first practice from Washington State 38.

In 20 career games, Slovis has 50 career touchdowns, 5,902 total yards and completed 69.5% of his passes.
He also won All-Pac-12 first-team honors last year and was named the conference freshman in 2019.
