On August 5, a judge granted a request from the Los Angeles family law attorney Samantha Spector to officially step down as counsel to the rapper in his and Kim Kardashianof divorce, according to court documents obtained by E! New. The filing also contains contact information for Kanye’s new Pennsylvania-based attorney, Deborah Hong.
Spector, who previously represented Nicole Young in his 2021 divorce from Dr.Dre, had submitted her request to be relieved as Kanye’s lawyer in May. In her petition, she wrote, “There has been an irreconcilable severance in the attorney-client relationship” and added that she “communicated with Ms. Hong, a lawyer, who confirmed that she was acting on Ye’s behalf. and should receive all communications addressed to it”, by HEY.
Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in February 2021. At the time, he was represented by a family law attorney Christopher Melcherand throughout the next year, the Yeezy founder would also use the services of two other lawyers from his firm to help him with the divorce case, according to court documents.
