Kanye West said he told his daughter North West to protect her brand and that of Kim Kardashian.
West said he told North to “not let anyone take our company.”
West and Kardashian run lucrative brands, like Yeezy and Skims, respectively.
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, said he advised his 9-year-old daughter North West on the future, including protecting her siblings, family and family brands.
In a recent interview with Linsey Davis on ABC News, Ye said he knows his daughter will be a family member who will make sure others don’t pick up on their marks.
“I tell her things like, ‘Never let anyone take anything from you. Protect your little brothers and sisters. Protect the family. Never let anyone take our company,'” Ye told her eldest daughter. “I literally tell her that because I realize she’s one of the people in the family who will make sure no one ever takes our business, no one ever takes what me and Kim have built with our two brands and the brands we are building now.”
Ye and Kardashian run multiple brands and business ventures, from shoe and apparel brand Yeezy to Kardashian’s Skims shapewear line. In April 2020, Forbes declared him a billionaire after years of campaigning to make the publication’s list of billionaires. As Insider previously reported, much of his wealth comes from Yeezy, of which he is the sole owner.
Kardashian officially joined Forbes’ billionaires list in 2021, and the publication estimates her net worth at $1.8 billion. According to Forbes, Kardashian derives much of her wealth from KKW Beauty, her cosmetics brand, and Skims.
North West is Kardashian and West’s first child and was born in June 2013. The couple also co-parented their three other children: Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. In the past, Ye has publicly expressed concern over certain decisions regarding their children, such as North West’s presence on TikTok.
“I have a voice, but I had to fight for it. I had to go on Instagram and I had to show up,” Ye told ABC.
