Police noted in the affidavit that surveillance video showed a dark-colored SUV carrying a bike rack stop near the house a minute after Wilson entered it. On May 12, a day after the alleged murder, US Marshalls found a 2012 Jeep Cherokee carrying a bike rack at the Strickland address. He told police he lived with Armstrong and the SUV belonged to him.

“Moriah Wilson and I had a brief romantic relationship from late October to early November 2021 that lasted about a week while Wilson was visiting Austin,” Strickland, 35, said. She moved back home to California and about a month later Kaitlin Armstrong and I reconciled and resumed our relationship. After our brief relationship in October 2021, [Wilson and I] weren’t in a romantic relationship, just a platonic, professional relationship.”

Strickland added: “There is no way to adequately express the regret and torture I feel about my closeness to this horrific crime.” He also said he had “fully cooperated with investigators” and would “continue to do so until justice is served.”

According to the affidavit, Strickland told police that he had been dating Armstrong for about three years and that they briefly ended their relationship for one to two weeks in October 2021. He said that during their breakup, he had met Wilson. “Strickland indicated that while he and Wilson were dating, Armstrong called Wilson on the phone, telling Wilson that she was the one who was dating Strickland,” the affidavit added.

Police were alerted to Strickland because Cash told them that on the day of the alleged murder, Wilson had texted her saying she was planning to meet him for a swim. Strickland told cops he picked up Wilson from Cash’s apartment on his motorbike and after they went swimming they had dinner and he drove them back and dropped her off at the residence without going in himself, then he left to go home.

Strickland lied to Armstrong about his whereabouts that day, telling him in a text that he had gone to leave flowers for someone and his phone was dead, according to the affidavit. He told police that Armstrong later arrived at their home, driving the 2012 Jeep Cherokee, alone.
