According to the SBU, Russian troops are suffering from the psychological effects of the atrocities they are committing in Ukraine. Their wives are beginning to be afraid of the kind of people their husbands are becoming.
“I can take a person and then ‘bam’ – (shoot them) in the head, with a machine gun or a Kalashnikov (assault rifle), mow down a hundred people with one shot”, can be heard saying the soldier in the recording.

” You do not believe me ? Nastya, I’ve gone crazy, I’m fucked in the head…”
“Civilians – I would throw civilians into trenches; I shot them all in the head, killing them; they cried, begging (for mercy) – I shot them anyway.

Citing SBU sources, Ukrainian media outlet Ukrayinska Pravda reported that the Russian soldier in question is Dmitriy Gennadiyevich Ivanov, born in 1995. According to his social media accounts, he lives in Kupsola, in the Russian Republic of Mari El. On his VKotankte (Russian social media network) page, Ivanov introduces himself as Dmitriy Tumanov. The uniform he wears in some photos suggests that he graduated from the Kazan Higher Tank Command School.
The investigation identified Anastasia Korotkova as the woman with whom Ivanov spoke during the SBU interception. Her VKontakte page has photos of hers and Ivanov’s wedding in 2020.
On April 14, the Ukrainian parliament recognized Russia’s actions in the war against Ukraine as genocide, placing the blame for the act on Russian troops and their military and political leaders.
